My drsL'S
Part of being at AMES are a thing called DRSL’s, these are
the desired result of student learning. Each year we show what we have learned
that has pertained to the three DRSL’s.
Critical thinking, my example are the photos I took during my technology unit in dance. I took most of the photos. They show critical thinking because they show my thought process and composition that I have learned from my art class.
For Effective communication I was given an assignment in my art class to make an art piece based off of a social or political issue. I chose pollution as my topic. I portrayed it in my art piece by showing mother nature surrounded by darker hues and coloreds associated with pollution. I then topped off the piece with a hidden message of Save Me written in the canvas to show that the signs are there, but no one noticed what we have done to our planet.
And for my last DRSL, which is integration and application of knowledge in civic, social, and personal contexts, I used my Knowles the I gained in my Beginning and Advanced dance class to put together a full five minuet dance for my youth group's drill team. I am captain this year and it has been a longer process than I thought. I had to choose the song first and then choreograph. My nine dancers and myself will be competing for the first place title next week.
